Four-time winner of the Music of the Indian Ocean prize, singer Maya Kamaty blends together island Maloya blues melodies and halting ternary rhythm music. Born of a father-musician and a mother-story-teller, her first album “Santié Papang” is a brilliant and delicate weaving of dreamy and upbeat ballads. With a crystal clear voice, Maya Kamaty invents her own stories - without forgetting where she comes from. She is currently preparing for the release of her second album in 2017 - a more atmospheric and electronic inspired sound, which brings together the traditional Creole language with a contemporary aesthetic.
